The Definition of Love

Can any one person define LOVE? Well, there is selfish love, altruistic love, maternal love, platonic, sexual and the list goes on...
The point is to love with your heart and totally unselfishly.  Freedom is often associated with love - the reason for this, is because when we love someone, we should give them the freedom to do as they wish and not keep them on a "leash".  Only through freedom and unselfish love can a relationship last.
I know of someone, a woman who has been in love with a man for over 20 years, yet circumstances have not allowed for them to be together.  The point is that their love for each other has endured the test of time and it has only become deeper.  This love, is not a sexual type ... it is a more spiritual one.  The two respect the fact that it is impossible for them to be together but this has nothing whatsoever to do with how they feel for each other.

Then we have the selfish type of love - a love of self.  They want a person for what they can get out of them, whether it is feelings or material things.  It is a destructive type of love which should not even be called "love" - it is doomed not to last.

How do you love?  How have you been loved?  These are questions I would love to have you answer.
