TALK TO ME!
Way back to
the time of the Caveman, the need for communication was what differentiated
mankind from the animal species. I have to say that the case nowadays is the
reverse! Animals are now better able to
communicate their feelings than we are - it is often not a matter of words
being spoken but of vibes being transmitted.
Sadly, people
have gradually done away with direct face-to-face speech and have resolved to
electronic means, thus making themselves more and more unable to truly open up
and talk to someone; for fear of being rejected. For instance, a man will ask a woman out, via
a text message or email. Of course it is
easier refusing someone’s company when all you see is a keyboard and screen
rather than … their eyes. So, as you
see, it works for both parties.
In our day and
age with the clock ticking faster than our schedules can handle, stress is
becoming all the more prominent, leading to different health issues. Many will find the social media an outlet and
will post something to that effect; then it’s the stress of seeing how many
likes and other emojies have been posted.
A response is all that matters - someone to show they care!
Finding ways
to relieve stress is very important – as important as life itself! Some people resolve to running, drawing, and
knitting amongst others. What we all need
is not to suppress our emotions but to let go!
We need to … TALK!!! More
importantly is that we need to … LISTEN!!!
How can we actually listen when we, ourselves have so much to say?
Whatever the
problem we are facing, we need to remember that a problem shared is a problem
shed!!! Not that it will completely and magically disappear, but it will be
easier to tackle seen from a different perspective because seeing anything from
a different angle makes all the difference.
There are people out there who really do care enough to listen. Isolating ourselves from others only tends to
magnify the problem.
When someone
dares get in touch and needs to talk about an issue they may be having, please
do not tell them not to worry. It’s not
as easy as that … it’s not a command one gives the brain…. It’s not an
electronic device that can be programmed – it’s a person in distress. So … if anything … LISTEN!!!
